Engineering- An aspiration, inspiration and... perception!!!

"Kehathe hai, Agar kisi cheez ko dil se chaho, tho poori kainath use tumse milane ke koshish me lag jathi hai..

It means: It is often said that if you want something or someone to be all yours then life starts turning things to get you to meet with them
This is the dialogue rendered by Sharukh Khan in Om Shanthi Om.
These lines have immense significance in my life. Being a biology student in Class 12, Medicine was my first preference. Eventually, I have ended up in an Engineering college. What engineering means to me??? This is my take on Engineering.

Today, nine out of ten in a group are engineers. Are we to blame the education system or our attitude? What does engineering offer? By the end of four years, you have your dream job. Is that all? There were times when people looked up to engineering. Now, the moment I say ‘engineering’ the eye brows raise and sarcasm pops in. Has engineering become so cheap? The fact is , not every engineering student is a real engineer.

Still bewildered? What does engineering actually mean? Engineering is dreaming, believing in that dream and making it a reality. It is an art. It bestows us with the freedom to explore the world from its scratch to its skyscrapers. It is an individual’s perception.

Making a different career choice does not make a person different. Standing out in our own community of engineers is more challenging. It gives us the opportunity to raise our standards and find a place in this competitive world of ours.
Here, I stand as an engineer with no regrets. Maybe this is where I actually belong. Maybe, this was earnest desire. And , I m living it now. Proud to be an engineer.

Lets put an end to all the sarcasm. Let your imagination soar… fly high and reach the sky.
The final verdict is , being an engineer, conceive the unimaginable, feel the intangible and achieve the impossible.
Cheers to all the Engineers!!!!!

  2. well said... “Engineers … are not superhuman. They make mistakes in their assumptions, in their calculations, in their conclusions. That they make mistakes is forgivable; that they catch them is imperative.
Better try to be what you are, and try to achieve what u can.
